Marisa Stubbs is the Deputy Director of People and Operations at Fair Budget Coalition, where she supports the people, systems, and organizational practices that help advance FBC’s mission and sustain its work.

Leading from a place of praxis, ethic, empathy, and joy, she brings over 25 years of experience in nonprofit executive leadership, management, and consulting — much of it grounded in community-rooted organizations in Washington, DC.

Marisa draws on a rich toolkit built through directing capacity-building initiatives for Black-led, Black-centered social justice and movement organizations; guiding teams through strategic planning; and designing well-being practices for nonprofit leaders and teams. Her experience also includes amplifying youth voice and leadership through storytelling and development strategy, as well as founding and directing a culinary training social enterprise for DC youth.

Across her work, she emphasizes strategy, integrity, and care to help build workspaces where people and purpose can flourish together.

In her other human pursuits, Marisa enjoys seeing her people, voice acting, dinner parties, exploring vegan dishes, hammocking, martial arts, traveling with her mom and sister (her two favorite girlies), and tending to her plants. Her secret mission is to help people like ingredients they think they hate…like lovely little okra.
